         defense community!

         Getting started

         Businesses that need guidance formulating a business plan, or need mentoring
         through their development, can contact the Maryland Small Business Development
         Center. This free resource provides training and one-on-one assistance. For more

         Businesses seeking government contracts can get help through the APEX Accelerator.
         Formerly known as the Maryland Procurement Technical Assistance Center, this
         organization offers free counseling and training for businesses to become familiar
         with the contracting process and prepares them to win government contracts. For

         Networking opportunities for small businesses are available through the Harford County
         Chamber of Commerce. Learn more about the benefits of membership and upcoming
         events at www.harfordchamber.org. Venture Access, the chamber’s entrepreneurial
         support arm, is dedicated to helping businesses that are just starting out. View their
         events calendar and sign up for their newsletter at www.ventureaccess.org.


         The Harford Office of Economic Development is restarting our Business Essentials
         Series, with free expert guidance on a variety of topics, such as corporate transparency
         and best practices for cybersecurity.  The series kicked off on May 1 with Employment
         Law, featuring legal experts discussing laws affecting employers and employees. To
