Harford County has a wealth of resources to support small businesses and a thriving
defense community!
Getting started
Businesses that need guidance formulating a business plan, or need mentoring
through their development, can contact the Maryland Small Business Development
Center. This free resource provides training and one-on-one assistance. For more
information, contact Ryan Del Gallo at rdelgallo@carrollcc.edu.
Businesses seeking government contracts can get help through the APEX Accelerator.
Formerly known as the Maryland Procurement Technical Assistance Center, this
organization offers free counseling and training for businesses to become familiar
with the contracting process and prepares them to win government contracts. For
more information, visit https://www.marylandapex.org/.
Networking opportunities for small businesses are available through the Harford County
Chamber of Commerce. Learn more about the benefits of membership and upcoming
events at www.harfordchamber.org. Venture Access, the chamber’s entrepreneurial
support arm, is dedicated to helping businesses that are just starting out. View their
events calendar and sign up for their newsletter at www.ventureaccess.org.
The Harford Office of Economic Development is restarting our Business Essentials
Series, with free expert guidance on a variety of topics, such as corporate transparency
and best practices for cybersecurity. The series kicked off on May 1 with Employment
Law, featuring legal experts discussing laws affecting employers and employees. To
learn more about this series, contact Raj Goel, deputy director of the Harford County
Office of Economic Development at rkgoel@harfordcountymd.gov.
