Martin State Airport Historic Legacy
In 1929, Mr. Glenn L. Martin, a visionary aviation designer and constructor, acquired 1,260 acres just east of Baltimore to establish the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Company’s aircraft manufacturing site. Today, this historic site is known as Martin State Airport, owned and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration on behalf of the Maryland Department of Transportation in Middle River, Maryland.
