Extraordinary Cinema
Directed by Steven Spielberg, Lincoln centers on Abraham Lincoln’s arduous struggle to outlaw slavery by fighting for the passage of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, while negotiating peace with the South and dealing with his mentally unstable wife. It’s a character study in fortitude and resolve. For playing the titular role, Daniel Day-Lewis picked up his third Oscar® for Best Actor (only three actors have done so), and as his wife Mary Todd Lincoln, Sally Field is a study in subtle nuance. Also featuring strong supporting turns from David Strathairn, Hal Holkbrook, and Tommy Lee Jones.
Films are screened with open captions, unless otherwise stated. For questions about accessibility or to request an accommodation, please contact the Accessibility Office at (202) 416-8727 or access@kennedy-center.org
